Lake Wylie Christmas boat parade 2026
Boats covered in lights cruise past the Buster Boyd Bridge one night each December. It has run for more than 35 years.
Quick answer
- When: usually a Saturday in mid-December, after dark. The 2025 parade was December 13.
- Where: starts at Papa Doc's Shore Club, 3990 Charlotte Hwy, by the Buster Boyd Bridge (Hwy 49).
- Who runs it: the Lake Wylie Chamber of Commerce. Confirm the date with them: their website or 803-831-2827.
Where to watch
- Papa Doc's Shore Club. The parade starts here, so it's the classic spot. Expect a crowd; arrive early.
- The shoreline near the Buster Boyd Bridge. Restaurants and lots along Charlotte Hwy (Hwy 49) look over the water.
- From your dock. If you live on the main channel near the bridge, the boats may pass you.
Watching by boat
- Keep clear of the parade route and follow any patrol boats.
- Running lights on, life jackets on. December water is cold, and it's dark.
- Check the lake level first. Winter levels are often lower, and points are hard to see at night.

A little history
The parade was in its 35th year in 2024, so it dates to around 1990. Boats used to line up at T-Bones on the Lake. Today it starts at Papa Doc's, at the same address. More Lake Wylie history.
